Detailed Description
Dark purple fluorite crystals on a bed of highly lustrous sphalerite crystals. The fluorite crystals are translucent, composite crystals showing the stepped-cube habit typical of the locality, while the sphalerite crystals are sharp and bright, with internal brwn glints under good lighting. As displayed (first photo), in very good condition – the large crystal is undamaged with the slightest rub in one spot, and the next largest crystal has one small clean cleave. The shape of the fluorite crystals is determined by the arrangement of the stepped cubic faces. There are some missing sphalerites around the side, out of view from the optimal viewing angle. A nice specimen from the Annabel Lee Mine.
