Description
Detailed Description
This specimen features brilliant, lustrous edge-on hematite roses grouped together. The overall shape of this piece is slightly concave. The small reddish quartz crystals perched among the hematite crystals add colour, as does some of the red massive hematite around the edges. In excellent condition, no damage other than a couple of minor nicks one can see with magnification and incomplete crystal edges at the periphery. This is one of the nicest specimens I’ve seen from this locality.

About These Hematites
These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
