Description
Detailed Description
This specimen is the side of a crystal cavity, filled with edge-on hematite rosettes. The hematite crystals are sharp with good lustre. In very good condition, no damage to the main hematite crystal clusters (some inclomplete clusters around the periphery). The couple of cracks in this piece (visible in the photos) are natural, from brecciation, and are cemented together by quartz.
An attractive piece with nice form – these are great hematite crystals.

About These Hematites
These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
