Detailed Description
This is an amazing 2.5 cm cluster of radiating howlite crystals. The howlite crystals are sharp and lustrous, with prominent and well-defined termination faces – this is almost as large as these howlite clusters get, and the individual crystals in this group are quite blocky compared to most. There is a little bit of a frosted appearance below centre and to the left, where the howlite crystals interacted with the sea water. In excellent condition – two small missing tips below and left of centre and that’s it on the whole piece. This is a world-class thumbmnail of this species.
About These Howlites
The howlite crystals from Bras D’Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia are the best known – to date, this is the world’s only locality to produce howlite crystals, other than a California locality with microscopic ones.
This place can be a little rough… which is a very good thing in some ways, and less so in others!
