Description
This is an awesome piece – the amazonite is nestled into the top of the smoky quartz crystal. The amazonite is sharp and exhibits parallel growth. The smoky quartz crystal is sharp and where its termination stands free on the left-hand side, it is quite transparent. In excellent condition, no damage (incomplete around sides and back where removed from the surrounding rock). A small fissure on the underside/back has been reinforced to ensure stability, and a small spot of grinding on the underside so that the specimen stands perfectly for display as shown in the first photograph.
This specimen was formerly in the collection of Robert Bartsch. The full locality information is Microcline var. Amazonite with Smoky Quartz, Jack Rabbit Mine, Crystal Creek nr Crystal Peak, Lake George District, Teller Co., Colorado, USA.
A superb combination specimen of these two minerals.
