Description
This specimen features orange spessartine crystals in bright, silvery muscovite. The speassartine crystals are a particularly nice colour and the central crystal on this piece is what makes it – it is a sharp, well-defined crystal. In very good condition overall, one crystal (below/beside the central one) is partial, and the others have very minor chipping, visible upon close examination. This is a striking, colourful display specimen.
The locality where these spessartine crystals were found has been the subject of an ownership dispute between agroups. After an armed conflict at the locality, the government prohibited further production.
This piece was in the collection of John White, and is accompanied by his collection label.
