Description
This is a very nice Taouz vanadinite I acquired in Morocco. Taouz vanadinites are easily distingued from those from the Mibladen district, as the Taouz ones sit perched on black oxides of iron and manganese. These vanadinites are a good red, and the crystals have good lustre. A beautifully-proportioned specimen.
Taouz is a rather remote location near the land-mined Algerian border, a desolate and harsh landscape (out of interest, there are photographs of this area in the article Morocco: The Northern Sahara and the Atlas Mountains (Part 1)).
