Description
This piece combines a few minerals, with quartz and epidote the highlights. The epidote crystals are sharp and lustrous, in divergent groups. Some epidote crystals are partially included in the quartz. The quartz crystals are also sharp with good lustre, with minor patches of opal on them (fluorescent under UV light). Under magnification, one can see that the quartz crystals also contain colourless very fine hair-like crystals of byssolite (the variety of an amphibole species in the tremolite-actinolite-ferro-actinolite series – quite possibly tremolite but can’t be confirmed without analysis). In excellent condition – a couple of nicks and incomplete crystals, all at the periphery (mostly the back edge). A great combination of quartz and epidote.
