Description
This miniature features a large tennantite crystal (confirmed by analysis), measuring 2.5 cm. There are a number of smaller tennantite crystals intergrown with the large one, and the tennantites are also accompanied by chalcopyrite crystals and minor siderite crystals. The lustre on the tennantites is brilliant, however they are not single crystal faces – the crystal surfaces are made up of a large number of tiny faces (visible with magnification), so the lustre is a bit sparkly, for lack of a better description. A small rub at the tip of the large tennantite, but it essentially gets lost in the lustre of the surrounding crystal faces and because they are composite crystal surfaces, it does not stand out. The fourth photo is taken from “above”, as I would display the piece, looking straight at the termination. Really great tennantite!
