Description
The central crystal in this group of pale smoky quartz crystals hosts an awesome deep purple amethyst phantom. This locality has produced relatively small numbers of truly fine specimens. (In Brazil, in 2005 – which was around the time the best ones came out – I was offered a garbage bag containing maybe 75 of them that looked like they had been run over by bulldozers… was tragic, what had happened to those crystals.) Near the phantom are reddish, elongated microscopic inclusions – my guess is goethite. Beautiful high-quality specimen.
