Description
This beautiful cabinet specimen features very sharp green octahedral fluorite crystals up to 2.9 cm on edge intermingled with quartz crystals. The fluorites are translucent to transparent with good lustre, with nice contrast against the quartz.
In excellent condition. No damage to the fluorites except incomplete crystals at the periphery – the large one at upper left is complete. I note that one peripheral crystal (at central-lower left edge in the first photograph) has a very fine-sized fissure which has a residue of fine wax in it, visible with magnification. I suspect this is left over from the prep work that was originally done on these to expose the fluorites from within the quartz. Blasting or heating the wax out could do harm to this specimen overall, and it’s so minor that it would be pointless to do that, in my view.
This is a great colourful display specimen at a great price for one of these!
