Fluorite, Quartz

Specimen # 100591
Mineral: Fluorite, Quartz
Location: Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhad, Inner Mongolia A.R., China
Size: 6.8 x 6.4 x 6.2 cm

Description

This is a super parallel-growth group of sharp, clear fluorite crystals with a group of parallel-growth quartz crystals providing an aesthetic offset. The fluorite crystals have three combined forms – the most prominent are the dodecahedral faces, while the square cubic faces and the triangular octahedral faces are relatively prominent as well.

With magnification using a small hand lens, one can see several tiny liquid inclusions with tinier bubbles inside – it is possible to see some bubbles move a little when you rotate the piece (still looking with the help of a loupe). There are also tiny magnetite crystals and dolomite crystals (both of these on the specimen and also as perfect inclusions inside the fluorite). Also small arsenopyrite and microscopic flakes of clinochlore in association.

The specimen is in excellent condition. No damage to the fluorites, some irrelevant broken quartz low on the backside of the piece.

Great specimen, textbook fluorite crystals!
