Cubanite (Twinned)

Specimen # 200272
Mineral: Cubanite (twinned)
Location: Henderson No. 2 Mine, Chibougamau, Quebec, Canada
Size: 1.3 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm

Description

A superb small cubanite crystal from the locality that produced the world’s finest, the Henderson No. 2 Mine, Chibougamau, Quebec. The crystal is sharp, exhibiting the classic cyclic twinning, and has very good lustre. In excellent condition and so much better than many of them (they are fragile enough that a significant percentage of the pieces were damaged) – a few tiny chips some of which need magnification to see, and a couple of chips on the right hand side which can be displayed out of view altogether. The last photo is of the backside of the crystal. This is a beauty – a classic Canadian specimen from the Steve Szilard collection.
