Zircon

Specimen # 200266
Mineral: Zircon
Location: Kipawa Alkaline Complex, Les-Lacs-du-Temiscamingue, Quebec, Canada.
Size: 4.6 x 3.5 x 3.4 cm

Description

This piece features several blocky zircon crystals from the early 1990s find at Kipawa. The zircon crystals at this deposit were enclosed in the solid rock, intimately intergrown with the feldspar and amphibole, so there are some spots of contact and intergrowth on this specimen, but only one zircon is incomplete – they are in excellent condition overall. From the Steve Szilard collection, a good representative of this find, not as easy to come by these days.
