Topaz and Beryl, var. Aquamarine

Specimen # 200709
Mineral: Topaz and Beryl, var. Aquamarine
Location: Shigar Valley, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
Size: 7.6 x 6.1 x 6.0 cm

Description

A wonderful pairing of two gem crystals – a water-clear, brilliant topaz, and a transparent aquamarine – with a nest of amber-coloured muscovite crystals. The topaz crystal is so bright, lustrous and glassy with some faces as bright as topaz can be. It is pristine – anything in the photographs that looks otherwise is inside the crystal. The aquamarine has much more complex surface features – very cool upon close examination – the termination is glassy and bright, with a small albite crystal perched on top. The aquamarine is also in excellent condition – no damage. This piece is an absolute stunner.

From the Gerald Panneton collection.
