Description

This is a large pink fluorapatite nestled in bladed crystals of muscovite. The shape of this fluorapatite is more interesting and complex than a typical single crystal, as this fluorapatite exhibits parallel-growth. The fluorapatite is sharp, glassy, and highly lustrous – and it’s a very good size at about 4 cm across. In excellent condition – all the way around the crystal it is free of edge nicks or edge chips. As you can see there is a fracture line – the fluorapatite crystal is embedded in the muscovite, so the fracture line visible in the crystal does not mean it is at risk of breaking from the matrix. This crystal is so clean and sharp – and a pleasing pink colour. It glows very bright yellow under short wave ultraviolet light.  From the Gerald Panneton collection.
