Description
This is large, sculptural arrangement of sharp, interlocking calcite crystals with bright lustre from the Xiangualing Mine. The charcoal-grey inclusions are likely boulangerite or jamesonite (both minerals are recorded from this mine). The calcite crystals fluoresce dark red under ultraviolet light. A tough one to photograph – the calcite crystals are incredibly sharp and more lustrous than they appear in most of the photos, while the specimen is very three-dimensional. In excellent condition, one small cleave and a couple of tiny rubs – quite amazing for the size of this specimen and considering the route these specimens travel to get out of this mine. This piece is a floater, crystallized 360 degrees around, and stands perfectly for display. From the Gerald Panneton collection. Looks super, a dramatic display specimen.
