Quartz, Fluorite Inclusions

Specimen # 102725
Mineral: Quartz, Fluorite inclusions
Location: Amborompotsty, Ambatofinandrahana, Amoron'i Mania, Madagascar
Size: 10.3 x 1.9 x 1.5 cm

Description

Superb sharp octahedral purple-blue fluorite crystals included inside a doubly-terminated quartz crystal. These are some of the coolest inclusions I’ve ever had (and I’ve had lots). The prism faces of the quartz crystals have a somewhat silky lustre, while some pyramidal faces are silky and some are lustrous. In excellent condition, a chip in the bottom termination (as I would display it) and a natural contact low (i.e. near one end) on one side of the crystal.

This piece is from a pocket found at a pegmatite in 2005 – it was a limited find of somewhere over 100 crystals and the best were all snapped up quickly. This specimen was offered by The Arkenstone (which had a significant portion of the pocket) and it was acquired by Tracy Kimmel for her collection, where it has resided until now.  A superb fluorite-in-quartz inclusion specimen!
