This hydroxyapophyllite-(K) from the famous Fairfax Quarry features two groups of sharp, lustrous tabular crystals. This style of crystal grouping is iconic from the two big finds at this locality, in 1953 and 1967. This specimen was originally in the collection of Dr. Warren Johansson (his label is with the piece), with a date of 1960, so it is from the original pipe find in 1953. It was then acquired by Crystal Classics, from whom it was acquired by John S. White for the the Virginia suite of his collection (catalogue no. 26-9-6). In excellent condition overall, some peripheral contacts, and a couple of chip low on the piece as photographed. The specimen has been very cleanly repaired in one place near the top (as photographed) and this is not seen from the main display angle at all – you have to look closely at the sides or back to see it. A great Fairfax apophyllite!
