Quartz

Specimen # 102837
Mineral: Quartz
Location: Liliana Mine, Mun. de Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico
Size: 4.4 x 3.1 x 2.6 cm

Description

A beautiful quartz from the John S. White quartz collection (originally collected by Benny Fenn) – a Liliana Mine specimen of what is sometimes called “minaret quartz”. This piece features two generations of crystallized quartz – the brilliant second generation: transparent, doubly-terminated, glassy, lustrous crystals, forming a ring all around the single first generation crystal. The underlying first generation crystal is a six-sided bar of quartz that spanned an open cavity, attached at both ends (and so is not terminated with terminal faces, although one can see how it ended at either side of the cavity). Some of the second-generation crystals are sceptres. In excellent condition – a gorgeous little piece.  (JSW # 12-8-2).
