Fluorite

Specimen # 103207
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Walker Vein, Caldwell Stone Company Quarry, Danville, Boyle Co., Kentucky, USA
Size: 7.7 x 6.6 x 5.8 cm

Description

This is a particularly aesthetic fluorite specimen – the central pillar (or comb) of crystals has a wonderful slight curvature. The purple colour is zoned very near to the surface of the individual fluorite crystals, providing extra definition/distinction between the crystals, and overall adding to the three-dimensional appearance of the piece. In excellent condition and stands perfectly for display as photographed.

This piece is from the Tracy Kimmel Collection and has a fair number of credits along its provenance. It is ex. Jordi Fabre, ex. Jan Buma, ex. John Betts, ex. Greybill collection (labels from Jordi and Jan Buma are included)  – it is on mindat with MinID# 3UL-KWL and is in John Betts’ Online Museum #25148. A beautiful Kentucky fluorite!
