Tinkie was Executive Supervisor at McDougall Minerals. She was also our family Golden Retriever and her story is happy – she adored life in the woods and enjoyed every day up here. She and Rudy were great companions, leading to lots of good laughs around here.
Tracy Kimmel was a Canadian mineral collector who built an excellent worldwide collection, with particularly strong sub-collections of arsenic minerals and quartz. She was of course so much more – and, together with her mineral collection, that’s what I’d like to share with you.
Steve Szilard is a well-known and highly respected mineral collector from Ontario, Canada. He built an excellent collection, with beautiful specimens from Canada and around the world. An active field collector, he has also contributed generously in the mineral collecting community.
Pete Richards is one of the world’s foremost experts on crystal shapes and the phenomena that influence them. He has published many writings on a wide array of mineralogical topics and his crystal drawings are featured in publications around the world. And… he has been a lifelong avid mineral collector, with an extensive and diverse mineral collection.
John White is is the former Curator-in-Charge of the U.S. National Mineral and Gem Collection, Smithsonian Institution, founder of the Mineralogical Record, author of two books and over 200 articles and hundreds of reviews and column contributions on mineral subjects and consulting editor of Rocks & Minerals magazine and the Russian journal Mineralogical Almanac. He is also a collector and a good friend.
Emery (2005-2017) was an amazing guy. He was our great dog (Labrador Retriever), and he was also a founding member of McDougall Minerals, shaping every day out here. This post gives a glimpse into his strong personality, and some of the fun and laughter he brought us.
