The Rochester Mineralogical Symposium is one of the best mineral events of the year. Here’s my report from RMS 2019, with lots of great mineral photos.
I’ve posted some excellent new specimens from the Conselheiro Pena area in this Brazil Update – a small number of spessartines from the famous 2003 pocket at the Navegadora Mine, and some fine crystals of wodginite from the recent find at the Itatiaia Mine.
In the heart of France’s Vosges Mountains, each June, Mineral World assembles at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, for what is always a great mineral show. This post gives a glimpse of some of this year’s finds, including gorgeous red zircon crystals, bi-coloured spodumene, clinochlore crystals and some classic French hematites from just outside of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines.

I’ve posted some great new pieces in this Brazil Update. These include gorgeous stars of rutile on hematite from Novo Horizonte, older specimens of cyclically-twinned rutile from Diamantina, and beautiful muscovite crystals from Mantena, Minas Gerais.
I’ve posted the first of the new Tucson specimens in this Wodginite Update. These are sharp, lustrous wodginite crystals from a small recent find in the Linopolis district, near Divino das Larajeiras, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The Tucson Gem and Mineral show was great this year! This report includes photos of mineral specimens from many new finds.
The new Brazil Update on the website features a mix of excellent specimens from Brazil, including spessartine, rutile, struverite-ilmenorutile, alexandrite, montebrasite, brazilianite, kunzite and more.
I’ve posted great new crystals of xenotime-(Y) from Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil. These crystals are dark brown, sharp and lustrous – they are are superb for this species.
