I’ve added great new specimens in a new update of pieces from the Steve Szilard Collection. Steve is a well-known and highly respected Canadian mineral collector and this update includes fine mineral specimens from all over the world.

I’ve posted the first in a series of updates with superb specimens from John White’s collection. These wonderful high-quality specimens from John’s collection are from a wide range of localities (classic to contemporary) and include a variety of minerals.
I’ve added some beautiful new specimens in this China Fluorite Update. These include specimens from Xiayang, Yongchin Co., Fujian, where the 2017 find of “tanzanite fluorites” was made. This update also features a gorgeous fluorite with calcite from the famous Xianghuapu Mine, water-clear crystals from Huanggang Mines, and purple octahedra from the De’An Mine.

The Rochester Mineralogical Symposium is one of the best annual events in Mineral World. This post about RMS 2017 includes lots of great mineral photographs, with many from prominent mineral photographers Jeff Scovil and Michael Bainbridge. The Tucson Gem and Mineral show was great this year! This report includes photos of mineral specimens from many new finds.
I’ve posted a very small group of excellent specimens from the 2002 find in the new China Kermesite Update. These kermesite specimens are from the find of the best kermesite crystals known to date. Unfortunately no specimens have been collected since the 2002 find, so it seems to have been a one-time find.
The new China Update features selected fine specimens – beautiful fluorite crystals of different colours and crystal habits (and some great phantoms), pyromorphite, golden barite, spessartine garnet and more.
This China Update – April 2014 features excellent new chalcopyrite/siderite and tennantite specimens from the Kaiwu Mine (the tennantites have been confirmed by analysis). The update also includes amazing highly distinctive new calcites from Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province (including some unique mushroom-shaped ones).
