Description

The edges of this microcline crystal have been overgrown by albite crystals, oriented in parallel. In fact, the whole microclinee has been overgrown with a veneer fo albite, but at the edges the albite is well developed in discrete crystals. Examining this specimen from underneath, it seems that a Carlsbad twinning plan is visible – hard to see as displayed, given that the albite on top obscures the habit of the microcline.  As a bonus, there is a fine arfvedsonite on the back, nicely terminated. In excellent condition, no damage. Stands perfectly for display as photographed.
