Description
This is a great cabinet specimen of sharp, rich brown axinite crystals from the Bor Pit, in the Dal’negorsk district. The axinite crystals are translucent and have bright glassy lustre. In excellent condition – there is minute edge chipping in a couple of spots and a couple of missing tips at the lower left, minor relative to the size of the specimen. The piece sits perfectly for display – the bottom of the specimen has been carefully trimmed with numerous parallel saw cuts to allow precision and a natural look to the piece – one cannot see this unless one lifts it up and looks underneath. I’m told that this is a relatively older specimen (I was not able to obtain a date) and has been in a collection in Russia until now.
It is a beauty, in rare condition for a Dal’negorsk axinite!
