Azurite

Specimen # 103101
Mineral: Azurite
Location: Lavrion Mining District, Lavreotiki, East Attica, Attica, Greece
Size: 5.1 x 4.6 x 2.2 cm

Description

Aggregates of tiny electric blue azurite crystals together with contrasting white calcite. There are also beautiful microscopic yellowish-green needles of what I believe are agardite-(Ce) – testing would be necessary to confirm – and bright green malachite.  In excellent condition overall – with magnification, one can find slight rubs. The azurite crystals in the balls at the top of the specimen (as oriented in the first photograph) are particularly well defined – just gorgeous!
