Beryl var. Aquamarine

Specimen # 200705
Mineral: Beryl, var. Aquamarine
Location: Erongo Mountains, Karibib, Erongo Region, Namibia
Size: 8.4 x 4.2 x 3.2 cm

Description

This is an absolutely amazing specimen. It is one of the top aquamarine crystals from Erongo – very few have been this size, it is sharp, deep aqua-blue, with glassy lustre and a gorgeous, slightly-stepped termination. The termination faces look like they were cut from blue glass. It is a figured specimen, photographed in Lapis 35:9, September 2010 – a copy will be included with the specimen.

In excellent condition. Only a couple of small nicks, not relevant considering the size and significance of this piece. The bottom end of the crystal has a small terminal area but is mostly a contacted surface where feldspar was, once upon a time. From the Gerald Panneton collection.

This is a killer, and one of the most important specimens I’ve ever offered. It is a breathtaking Erongo aquamarine.
