Bournonite

Specimen # 100481
Mineral: Bournonite
Location: Les Malines District, Saint-Laurent-Le-Minier, Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Size: 7.0 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm

Description

This is a great cluster of steel-coloured bournonite crystals from the contemporary classic occurrence in Les Malines District, Saint-Laurent-le-Minier. The crystals mostly present edge-on, with prism faces being the most prominent on the piece. The largest crystal measures 2.5 cm. In excellent condition – there are a couple of small chips in non-distracting places and otherwise just contacts/incomplete crystals around the edges. The lustre is almost silky metallic, with the appearance of a subtle patina. It’s very hard to acquire a good bournonite for the mineral cabinet at this kind of price – I got lucky at Ste. Marie. This is a super specimen.
