Description
A joined pair of calcite crystal balls – this is a floater with no point of attachment. These calcite crystals are elongated and spiky, and under magnification, some have a dusting of a second generation of extremely tiny calcite crystals on them. There is minor etched purple fluorite in association. In excellent condition overall. This specimen was collected in 1994 on the Bethel Level at the Ozark Mahoning Company’s Minerva No. 1 Mine. It is from the Tracy Kimmel Collection – she acquired it from Ross Lillie and the North Star Minerals label accompanies it (it is originally ex Gail Hall Collection, # RL-94-13). A really cool specimen and particularly for the locality!
