Description
This is a beautiful sparkling large-cabinet specimen of pink cobaltoan calcite. The crystals are sharp and lustrous and the pink hue varies a fair bit depending on the light source – it is a cooler pink under daylight colour temperatures (as shown here) and under a 50W halogen it is a warmer pink. It is from the Agoudal Mine, which has now closed.
In excellent condition – a couple of small incomplete crystals, and some incomplete around the edges where this was attached to surrounding rock. (In the photo of the whole specimen, the two non-peripheral incomplete ones are about 1/8 of the way up from the bottom, to left of centre – the other lighter-coloured crystals across the middle are not damaged, they are just showing internal reflections and some lighter colour.) The specimen stands as photographed, but needs support or a stand to make sure nothing tips it. This is a heavier piece – if shipping beyond North America, there will be an additional shipping cost.
A great, colourful large display piece.
