Detailed Description

A plate of sharp, lustrous orange chabazite crystals, with some showing penetration twinning. In very good condition overall, minor incomplete crystals, mostly around the periphery. A great splash of orange in the display case, and the one twin is really something.

About The Chabazites From Wasson’s Bluff

Wasson’s Bluff is world famous for colourful chabazite crystals, ranging in colour from pinks to various hues of orange and all the way to dark red. The chabazites from Wasson’s Bluff have been collected since the mid-19th century, and production of truly fine specimens has been sporadic. Although several of the productive zones have been exhausted as the basalt has eroded away to the underlying sandstone, occasional finds have produced excellent specimens.
