Description
Detailed Description
A cabinet specimen featuring a cavity full of chabazite crystals. This cavity is actually one of the end extensions of the April 2022 pocket that produced highly distinctive chabazite specimens – in this pocket, many of the crystal edges were lighter than the the main body of each crystal, so that the crystal outlines were prominent. The crystals are sharp and lustrous. In excellent condition, with incomplete crystals at and near the periphery where this was attached to the adjoining rock. A very nice display specimen of chabazite!

About The Chabazites From Wasson’s Bluff
Wasson’s Bluff is world famous for colourful chabazite crystals, ranging in colour from pinks to various hues of orange and all the way to dark red. The chabazites from Wasson’s Bluff have been collected since the mid-19th century, and production of truly fine specimens has been sporadic. Although several of the productive zones have been exhausted as the basalt has eroded away to the underlying sandstone, occasional finds have produced excellent specimens.
