Chabazite, Barite

Specimen # 100646
Mineral: Chabazite, Barite
Location: Swan Creek, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 8.4 x 7.7 x 5.7 cm

Description

This cabinet specimen features brick-red-toned chabazite crystals to 0.8 cm with sharp white tabular barite crystals and rhombohedral calcite crystals. The chabazite crystals are sharp and exhibit textbook penetration twinning (on {0001}). Within the chabazites, there are some zones of a more yellow colour as well. In very good condition – there are minor missing crystals but overall the piece is excellent and the central areas of interest are great. The piece stands perfectly for display. Formerly in the collection of well-known Nova Scotia collector Terry Collett, it was collected on April 14, 2004.  Really different and distinctive with the barite in association – and nice contrast!
