Description
This is a super specimen of clinoatacamite, with sharp, lustrous crystals perched over malachite and quartz crystals inside a vug. The clinoatacamite crystals are super. With magnification, one can see that at least one of these crystals has a twinning re-entrant. The vug also hosts three transparent colourless crystals of gypsum, var. selenite, and there is lighter blue chrysocolla present on this piece as well. In excellent condition, one crystal at the front edge of the vug is incomplete where it was connected to surrounding rock – I would display this specimen supported to stand as in the first photo anyway, and that incomplete crystal faces down.
This is a great clinoatacamite.
