Copper

Specimen # 100040
Mineral: Copper
Location: Bennet Brook (Colonial Copper Mine), Cap D'Or, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 6.5 x 2.8 x 2.8 cm

Description

Great matrix copper, accompanied by some nice colours. The 3 cm flat-lying spinel-law twin on the right of the piece has some nice brightness to it at various angles under the light. The branching arborescent growth on the left is comprised of super sharp copper crystals and stands slightly off the matrix. The green malachite coating on the matrix gives some good green colour, and there are beautiful micro ruby red octahedral cuprite crystals in a few spots on the copper. Lots to look at on this cool specimen.
