Quartz

Specimen # 201083
Mineral: Quartz
Location: Baghe Zahir, Sar-e-Sang River, Kokcha Valley, Badakhshan, Afghanistan
Size: 3.7 x 2.1 x 1.9 cm

Description

It is very unusual to see a quartz crystal from the famous Afghan mineral locality, Sar-e-Sang. This crystal has an etched appearance on all surfaces (including the bottom/underside which had fractured, once upon a time). It has good translucence – it appears almost transparent, but hard to discern given the faces. In excellent condition. A great locality piece from the John White quartz collection.
