Dioptase

Specimen # 200700
Mineral: Dioptase
Location: Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Size: 6.4 x 5.3 x 4.4 cm

Description

A fantastic specimen of Tsumeb dioptase. The crystals are the most intense green and the top lustre, perched on contrasting white calcite crystals. The dioptase crystals are vivid and glassy, with internal reflections – the larger crystals are translucent and the smaller ones are transparent, green gems.

In excellent condition for its size – looks outstanding, but for the sake of my complete descriptions, there are a couple of small nicks and two incomplete crystal edges (the back of the top left large crystal, not seen as displayed, and one very small peripheral crystal you have to look for) – otherwise all are complete and free of damage. From the Gerald Panneton collection.

This is an absolute killer. One of the finest and most significant specimens I’ve offered.
