Description

This dioptase is a stunner, featuring very large crystals for the species – incredibly rare to have such crystals on a matrix specimen. The largest crystal is 3.3 cm long and the second and third largest are over 2 cm. These are intense green, dioptase crystals. They range in clarity – the two stout crystals are only slightly translucent under strong light, but under that same strong light most of the crystals (including the elongated, largest ones) are translucent, and some smaller crystals are transparent.  The lustre is mostly brilliant, while it’s matte in a few spots. In excellent condition overall – there are incomplete crystals and contacts, all except a couple of small crystals are peripheral – this must be considered in context. From the Gerald Panneton collection, this is a super dioptase.
