Along with its bright colour, this one has such good aesthetic balance that it stands out on the shelf from across the room. The vug of bright, vivid pink cobaltoan dolomite crystals is surrounded by pale dolomite rock matrix, providing super contrast. The crystals are lustrous and packed tightly together and the colour is simply superb. In excellent condition, some missing crystals around the periphery and at a couple of spots near the vug’s edge (larger one is at centre to lower right, as oriented in the third photo), but this is minor in relation to the specimen overall. It’s not easy to obtain specimens of any mineral with a pink colour this good, let alone with these aesthetics – this is a beautiful piece!
