Epidote, Quartz

Epidote, Quartz

Specimen # 102575
Mineral: Epidote, Quartz
Location: Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan
Size: 5.8 x 3.0 x 2.8 cm

Description

Fans of sharp, lustrous epidote crystals on a doubly-terminated quartz crystal. The epidote crystals are sharp and lustrous, and as you can see in the photos, two fans are partially included in the quartz. The quartz crystal has good lustre and the colouration is internal.

One face of the quartz crystal (in the third photo, the orientation is on the left-hand side, the rear termination/prism face) is incomplete, and this isn’t visible as displayed either in the first or third photo. The epidote fans are in very good condition, a couple of minor incomplete spots, and the one on the right (in the second and third photos) is not complete from the rear (shown in the fifth photo, taken from behind the specimen, it’s the fan on the left). You can see there is an incomplete area of epidote to the left/below the three main fans, flush to the quartz.

I personally would mount this as in the first photo, but it also looks great lying flat as in the third photo. It’s a dramatic combination specimen.
