Fluorite

Specimen # 101874
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size: 3.7 x 3.4 x 2.8 cm

Description

This specimen is compised of gemmy, transparent, colourless fluorite crystals. These are sharp and complex crystals, exhibiting four crystal forms – dodecahedron, octahedron, cube and trapezohedron. The octahedral faces are slightly frosty, and the others are all glassy and lustrous, these frosted ones are a really nice offset. The trapezohedral faces are exhibited as four “bevels” surrounding each dodecahedral face. In excellent condition, no damage execept two incomplete spots around the periphery (most around the perihpery has recrystallization patterns, so this piece would have separated from some of its attached rock before a final crystallization phase).

With beautiful internal play of light and some sparkling rainbow colours under the lights, this is a jewel.
