Fluorite

Specimen # 103114
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Berbes District, Asturias, Spain
Size: 6.4 x 4.9 x 3.5 cm

Description

This is a beautiful fluorite from Berbes with great purple colour! The crystals are sharp with good lustre, and their relative clarity allows the saturated purple to really come through under any decent lighting – looks super under good lights (no need for backlighting to see the colour). Looking closely, and with good lights, one can see phantoms/zones inside several of the crystals. In excellent condition (as displayed, a couple of tiny chips, and then peripheral incomplete crystals on either side where this was attached). Looks great (and stands fine) in both vertical and horizontal orientations – I personally prefer the vertical.  From the Tracy Kimmel Collection, this fluorite’s wonderful saturated colour stands out.
