Gmelinite

Specimen # 102585
Mineral: Gmelinite
Location: Two Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 2.8 x 2.4 x 1.4 cm

Description

This piece features a remarkable large pink gmelinite crystal, 2.4 cm across (large for the species), with a second associated crystal. These crystals formed flat to the matrix, so they did not fully develop – the large crystal has a full termination, but the faces behind cut short – it is a little more than half a crystal. This is all there was – no more of it formed than this, it was loose in the pocket, not attached to matrix. The gmelinite crystals are sharp, lustrous – top quality. In excellent condition, no damage. From the display angle, it looks fantastic.
