Gmelinite

Specimen # 100633
Mineral: Gmelinite
Location: Two Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 6.3 x 4.3 x 2.9 cm

Description

Sharp twinned crystals of beautiful glassy gmelinite. Delicate pale pink colour, up to 1.8 cm in size.  Good three-dimensional specimen, with nice separation between the crystals.  In excellent condition – a spot of chipping to the back of the large crystal on the left, not visible as I would display it, and a few incomplete crystals around the periphery. This specimen has been reinforced to ensure stbility. Minor contacts with the brecciated basalt matrix. These are super gmelinite crystals!

From the collection of well-known Nova Scotia collector Terry Collett, this specimen was collected on April 27, 2009.
