Detailed Description

This plate hosts a group of beautiful deep blue twinned lazulite crystals. The lighter blue lazulite on the lower part (mounted upright, to stand as photographed) is lazulite that has recrystallization features. This specimen has an unusual crevice running from the top, left of centre – this was at one time a crack that has recrystallized, with lazulite and quartz crystals developed inside and across it. (It is not remotely loose – it is cemented by quartz.) This crevice is visible in the fourth photo, In excellent condition – some chipped crystals at the periphery. These are sharp, lustrous lazulite crystals!

About these Lazulites

Discovered in the 1970s, the occurrences at Rapid Creek have become known as among the best localities in the world for lazulite. These occurrences are very remote and the costs are high, so specimen collection efforts are few and far between, and it is hard to obtain fine specimens. These fine lazulites are from a find in 2015.
