Description
Detailed Description
This specimen features beautiful deep blue lazulite crystals to 1.4 cm, and the crystals have been partly coated from one direction (almost as if submerged) by a mix of tiny quartz and siderite crystals. This one looks best mounted so that it sits horizontally, as photographed. The lazulite crystals are sharp and lustrous, they are dark with internal blue glints under good lights. In very good condition, the largest crystals are undamaged, there is otherwise some chipping and a couple of crystals are missing. These are great lazulite crystals with glassy faces, at an excellent price.
About these Lazulites
Discovered in the 1970s, the occurrences at Rapid Creek have become known as among the best localities in the world for lazulite. These occurrences are very remote and the costs are high, so specimen collection efforts are few and far between, and it is hard to obtain fine specimens. These fine lazulites are from a find in 2015.
