Description
Detailed Description
This specimen hosts fantastic twinned lazulite crystals on a bed of dark brown siderite crystals. The lazulite crystals are razor-sharp, with brightly lustrous faces and glints of deep blue below the crystal surfaces. In exceptional condition, these crystals are perfect except for a chipped area on the low corner of the large crystal (below the small beige mineralized growth along that edge near the bottom) – it faces down as displayed and is in shadow, hard to see at all. This is a super Rapid Creek lazulite.
About these Lazulites
Discovered in the 1970s, the occurrences at Rapid Creek have become known as among the best localities in the world for lazulite. These occurrences are very remote and the costs are high, so specimen collection efforts are few and far between, and it is hard to obtain fine specimens. These fine lazulites are from a recent find, in 2015.
