Linarite PS Galena

Specimen # 200474
Mineral: Linarite, Anglesite after Galena
Location: Blanchard Mine, Bingham, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA
Size: 4.9 x 3.2 x 2.3 cm

Description

A pseudomorph of brilliant blue linarite crystals in a cube, after a galena crystal. The linarite crystals are sharp and lustrous. These pseudomorphs are understood to sequence from galena to anglesite to linarite, and there is still minor anglesite present on this specimen. Under magnification one can also see sharp lustrous quartz crystals and brochantite crystals. In excellent condition. The specimen has been reduced in size with a saw cut on the bottom. From the Pete Richards collection, he acquired it on April 5, 2003.
