Description

Sharp, lustrous pyrargyrite crystals from St. Andreasberg, one of the world’s most classic pyrargyrite localities. These crystals look nearly black from a distance, but under good light and with a bit of magnification (hand loupe), they are beautiful red crystals! In addition, this specimen hosts larger balls of dark pyrargyrite and tiny lustrous löllingite crystals, on a matrix of arsenic. In excellent condition overall, a couple of missing crystals. Looks fantastic under magnification. From the Tracy Kimmel Collection, Tracy acquired it from The Arkenstone along with an old label I can’t make out (photographed and included with the specimen) – the piece is posted on mindat, specimen 5RK-3XW. A great old classic.
